5/8/15 Stop Animation

I chose this topic because I love the Scott Pilgrim series, and I love the art style. I knew it would be a fun and easy project; since it's the end of the year, I didn't feel the need to try to show my video making skills. I would give my video a 7 if I had to rate because it isn't extraordinary but it is at least entertaining to watch. I used my resources and did the best I could. The second time around I would use a better camera and camera angle. I would also probably use better lighting so the lights wouldn't create a glare on the white board making it harder to see. I thought outside of the box because who tries to show six different comic books with different color schemes on the same board. I tried to make each design match the books as perfectly as I could. I deserve at least a B because although I didn't put all my effort into this, I did try somewhat to make it watchable. Also The camera was somewhat shaky and it went fast at times.

4-17-15 Unethical Practices

Why do you think that most people use unethical practices to cheat academically?
Most people use unethical practices to cheat academically because just the thought of it stresses them to an extreme amount but it could also be because they waited until the last minute and wanted to get it done the night before it was due. In, some cases they do it because they lack the knowledge to know what is actually plagiarism and what isn't.

Which one of the four offenses committed you think should have been let off with a warning rather than expelled? Why?
I think Sandra, who helped her friend, Muhammad, write an outline should be let off with a warning because she didn't know he was going to copy her essay and exact words. She was also unaware that helping out wasn't allowed in certain situations.

What kinds of problems will follow the students with this on their record?
The student will experience many problems because of this, they will most likely be expelled from there school and will have a hard time getting into a new one. Most schools do not want have to baby sit students to see if they are plagiarizing or not.

Plagiarism policy at one of my local colleges.
At my local college, K-state, the plagiarism policy rather strict. Anyone plagiarizes will be put in front of the honor council. They will  be accused and asked for there side of the story before they decide what to do with the accused student. They will either give the student a suspension, a warning, some form of detention or they will be expelled.

3/9/15/ Sphero Investigation

Lesson 1- Time, Speed, and Distances
In this section we were taught the commands of how to control the speed of the Sphero, how to tell it direction, and how long it should roll. This allowed the Sphero to go farther the more speed you gave it, even if you let it roll the same amount of time at a slower speed.

Lesson 2- Geometry
In this lesson we learned how to change the color of the Sphero by changing the percentages of color in the command section. We learned that in order to make a shape you had to change the angle by a certain amount each time. For example, a triangle you start at 0 degrees then 90 degrees then 270, making it turn left every time. Using these commands the Sphero created a triangle and changed colors every time it created a new side.

2/20/15 Wireless Comuunications

1- People can be more responsible with their phone bill and their phone in general by three simple steps. They should set a budget and minute limit before signing the contract. Secondly, they try not to roam because that can cost extra and make you phone bill even bigger. Thirdly, they should use it appropriately things like sexting can really get you into trouble.
2- Texting while driving can very dangerous to you and people in the car. It can cost your life and your loved ones. Since your brain can't multitask, texting while driving means your only giving 50% of your attention to the road. This causes more accident's and makes driving dangerous to also your future.
3- There are easy ways to prevent texting while driving, such as sending an automatic message to your friends while you're on the road, turning your phone off completely or putting it out of sight, so it's out of mind. Using these tips will keep you and others on the road safer.

2/17/15 Sixth Sense Technology

I learned from watching this the opportunity to make the digital world and the real world part of the same world is not as far away as one might think. For example, Pranav Mistry created a way for the computer to scan his hand motions and create the picture on the screen. He kept going as well, he created a pen that allowed you to digitally create a 3D model on the screen. He soon adapted the idea to create a head piece that allowed you to see things in your daily life by  wearing a helmet that projected an image and could sense you photos. This leading Mistry to the Sixth sense technology, a camera he wears around his neck and allows him to take photos with his finger, drag documents and call people using any flat surface. But even with all this good there is one drawback such as the lack of privacy. With having your information on any wall you are giving people the opportunity to see things you may not want others to see.

1/15/15 Favortie App

My favorite app is Tumblr., a free social media found on most app stores. It's an online forum where you can interact with others that have the same interest as you. Things like tv shows, movies, books, art, music, or even celebrities. It helps you connect with news on all of those or to get references that are related to your interest. Many artist such as writers, designers, musicians, and drawer/painters, use Tumblr. to show people their work. You can like a post, follow people and re-post there posts. You will get a notification every time any of these happen to your post.
You must be at least 13 to use this app however. It can work for mobile phones or pcs. Basically it is an online community that you can customize to fit your personal preference on social media. You can find more information here.

1/12/15 Collusion

Today, I watched a TED video tilted, Gary Kovac: Tracking Our Online Trackers. He was introducing the online, downloadable, tracker Collusion. Guiding us through his day and his daughters, he demonstrated how Collusion works and how we are being tracked today through the websites we go through. Kovac was concerned of how much he was being tracked without his consent. He openly admitted that certain sites have permission to track him to recommend movies, books and friends to connect with virtually. But the majority of websites tracking him are unknown or do not have his permission to track him.
Personally I think the trackers watch our every virtual move to find out what to advertise to us. For example if you type in "Good ways to lose weight", your trackers would start to put ads on your regularly visited websites, about weight lose. Which who says is a bad thing? Some good things can come from being tracked. It could possibly open you up to new experiences and virtual worlds, on the other hand they use your information to find these things, which is a violation to your privacy. Kovac, showed us his daughters Collusion and he could not stress enough how he was enraged by his daughter getting tracked. So, they not only effect you but those close to you.
I can honestly say that the amount of dots that appeared on Kovac's Collusion was not surprising. Everyone knows that you're putting your information at risk while going online. Things like your identity can be taken from you or your address. It's a window of opportunity but also a way for people to get into your life. This isn't to say, that I justify being tracked. I would say that I would have over 200 trackers because I spend more than 8 hours of my day online. Things like watching videos on YouTube, reading articles about protest or even just normal social media such as Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr. We get tracked on a daily basis online, now we just have to decide whether to allow it or not.
